For the past couple of decades, There have been many explanations for the extinction of the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. I have summarized some of the key arguements and contradictions below,
Asteroid Impact
Theory: An astroid hit Earth with a force one billion times more powerful than the atomic bomb at Hiroshima, blasted material at high velocity into the atmosphere, triggering a chain of events that caused a global winter, wiping out much of life on Earth in a matter of days.
Conflict: A permanent worldwide nuclear damage would be killing all animals, but all the fish and mammals survived.
Scarce Food for Flesh Eaters
Theory: Flesh eating dinosaurs were growing in big numbers and finally they ate all the plant-eating dinosaurs and after a while eat themselvesConflict: Flesh eaters are not built to eat plants so how did the flowers also get extinct
Mobility
Theory: Plant eating dinosaurs getting thicker due to plenty of food and even flesh eating dinosaurs getting thicker with more food available, and one day they have ate so much they could not move for longer distance in search of foodConflict: Fossil evidence suggest that all the Flesh eating dinosaurs even large ones were able to move very fast then how its possible one day they could not move in search of food
Volcanic Reaction
Theory: Large number of volcanoes become active and resulting lava would kill all the dinosaurs.
Conflict: Large Volcanic reaction is unrealistic and question arises why other fish and mammals not killed
Official Confirmation from Experts
Finally, a panel of 41 scientists from across the world reviewed 20 years' worth of research to try to confirm the cause of the so-called Cretaceous-Tertiary (KT) extinction, which created a "hellish environment" around 65 million years ago and wiped out more than half of all species on the planet have come to conclusion its due to Asteroid Impact.
The asteroid is believed to have hit Earth with a force one billion times more powerful than the atomic bomb at Hiroshima, it would have blasted material at high velocity into the atmosphere, triggering a chain of events that caused a global winter, wiping out much of life on Earth in a matter of days.
The panel of 41 scientists hope their findings will lay to rest once and for all the debate about what caused the KT extinction.
